If you’re comfortable with variable electricity rates that may fluctuate monthly, or if you prefer not to be in a contract, our Regulated Rate Option (RRO) might be the best choice for you. To access this option, you don’t have to do a thing. You will be automatically enrolled for the Regulated Rate Option (RRO) as the default option when you begin service with Blue Mountain Power Co-op.
Our Stable Rate contract is an excellent option if you wish to avoid variations in the electricity rate you pay every month. The Fixed Term Stable Rate Energy Contract currently available to new enrollments runs from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 at the contract rate of 8.40 cents per kilowatt-hour ($0.0840/kWh). Beginning February 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, a new Fixed Term Stable Rate Energy Contract will be available at 7.99 cents per kilowatt-hour ($0.0799/kWh). If you are currently on the 6.99 cents per kilowatt-hour ($0.0699/kWh) Fixed Term Stable Rate Energy Contract, which expires January 31, 2022, and wish to remain on a contract, no action is required as your contract will be automatically renewed at 7.99 cents per kilowatt-hour ($0.0799).
Our Wholesale Rate is a variable rate best suited for members who consume a higher volume of electricity, more than 2000 kWh per month. Our Wholesale Rate is calculated using an average of the monthly variable rate provided by the Alberta Energy System Operator (AESO), including various flow through charges allocated to Blue Mountain Power Coop. There are no rate markups, only an administration fee, which is currently priced at $18.85 per month. The AESO rate has historically been lower than our fixed and floating rates, but this is still subject to market conditions.
