Each year Blue Mountain Power Co-op proudly supports a variety of local organizations and events through sponsorships, donations, and scholarships. 4-H clubs, rodeos, bonspiels, tournaments and other local events and organizations that positively impact growth and development of youth or encourage community development are eligible to apply for funding or in-kind support. Keep reading to learn more about how your organization can apply for sponsorship or your children can apply for our post-secondardy scholarship.

Blue Mountain Power Co-op supports our members, our employees, and the rural communities we serve through various sponsorship initiatives. Every year. we give back to our community through financial or in-kind donations for community events and fundraisers. To make a request, please fill out our Sponsorship Request Form.

Apply for Our Academic Scholarship

We offer four post-secondary scholarships to recognize the academic accomplishments of the students of Blue Mountain Power Co-op members, and to assist with and encourage post-secondary education. Four scholarships of $1000 are granted each year to the top applicants. Find out more about the application process below.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen (or permanent resident) and a resident of Alberta.
  • Have at least one parent, or their legal guardian, be a member in good standing of Blue Mountain Power Co-op at the time of application.
  • Be planning to register in the first year of a post-secondary program of at least two years in length.

In addition, applicants must include:

  • An essay describing their study plans and future career goals. The essay should be typed, double-spaced and no longer than 1000 words.
  • A copy of their post-secondary institution acceptance letter.
  • Official Government of Alberta transcripts (once available).
  • Two letters of reference either from teachers, employers, coaches, or religious representatives. The letter should describe the qualities the applicant displays which make them an appropriate candidate for this award. For example the letter may include information regarding the applicant’s academic standing, achievement in extracurricular activities, and/or community involvement.
Selection Procedure

Recipients will be chosen by a selection committee. Applicants will be judged on their academic success based on the average of their five highest Grade 12 courses with a minimum three credit value, their essay, and letters of reference.

Submissions must be postmarked no later than the submission deadline of August 1, 2024.

All applicants will be notified of the results of their application by September 15, 2024. Blue Mountain Power Co-op will arrange to present the awards to the two recipients.
