Journeyman Power Line Technician (Full Time / 40 hours a week)

BMPC is a co-operative utility providing power distribution in the Gateway to the West Country (Rocky Mountain House area). BMPC’s office is centrally located in our service area, you will be home every night!
As a Journeyman PLT, you will be a vital team player on BMPC’s crew, contributing to the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. You will be dedicated to ensuring the safety of yourself, your team and the general public while providing our members with exceptional service.
This position will work with strict adherence to: safety practices, regulations, and procedures to construct, maintain, repair, or troubleshoot the electric distribution system, whether overhead or underground. Live line work, drafting and performing switching plans, patrolling lines, drafting and obtaining hold offs, and conducting inspections will all be part of the daily duties for this position.
You will manage numerous projects and competing demands such as:
- Trouble calls
- Power interruptions
- Escorting oversized loads,
- Addressing minor repairs and issues on a daily basis.
- Troubleshoot electrical system problems and implement solutions.
- Participating in afterhours and weekend standby rotation / on-call duties
- Operating Bucket & Digger trucks and other heavy equipment.
- Providing leadership and mentoring PLT apprentices, including promoting team building and training.
- Working in a team environment and alone.
- Other assigned special projects and duties.

Required Qualifications:
- Red Seal Journeyman Power Line Technician Certificate (3rd or 4th year Apprentice would be considered)
- Driver’s License (Minimum Class 3 with Q Endorsement)
