RE:  COVID-19 or Coronavirus

As you are aware, the Coronavirus has become a very real threat to Albertans.  The Blue Mountain Power Co-op is invoking a Pandemic Plan to protect our members, our employees and the general public.  This plan is designed with the intent to ensure that BMPC continues to provide electricity services to our members during this threat and beyond.

The plan is extensive in nature but revolves around certain main components as follows:

  1. Limit contact between employees, members and the general public to avoid transmission of the virus however possible.
  2. Ensure that the resources, both human and otherwise, are kept at sufficient levels to maintain continuity of electric services.

There will be an immediate impact on both employees and members as follows:

  1. Any employee that exhibits, or has been exposed to another person that exhibits, symptoms of the virus, will be subject to quarantine. In many cases the employees will be able to continue working remotely.
  2. To prevent transmission of the virus between the employees and the members, effective Tuesday, March 17th, the BMPC office will be closed to walk-in public. We encourage members to communicate remotely with office staff via phone at 310-POWR (7697) or email  We are communicating with many of our members by email.  This crisis underscores the need to provide us with your email for vital communication such as this.
